Detailed Route Planner

Creating detailed maps of a specific route from an outline map

what's the role?

The Detailed Route Planner role is a technical role that will require creating detailed maps of a specific route from an outline map and ensuring that each part of the route is definitely walkable.

Your job as detailed route planner would be to -
(i) Create a detailed route plan for a specific area from the outline of the national route plan set
out on

(ii) Ensure the routes are definitely walkable

(iii) Coordinate with the detailed route planner for the previous and next section to make sure
the route links up

(iv) Produce maps for each section of the route for the Lead Walkers. These tasks will be guided by the priorities set by the team leader for the given route section.

It would be useful for the route planners to be familiar with the area they are mapping a route out for, however it isn’t necessary. Support in doing this will be provided by the YCCN Central Team and the Route Section Team Leader. The detailed plans for each of the routes need to be made at least 6 weeks before the relay takes place for that section. Though not essential, helping with local recruitment and
promotion on social media would also be a bonus.

what's the time commitment?

The route sections vary in length and this is likely to determine the time commitment of this role. We
would appreciate help with this as soon as possible.
