This privacy policy describes the Young Christian Climate Network’s (hereafter: YCCN) commitment to respecting your privacy regarding any information we may collect, use and manage while operating our website.

YCCN is committed to processing data in accordance with its responsibilities under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679. This policy is liable to change in line with improvements and changes in the law. We reserve the right to update or modify this Policy at any time by posting a revised policy on this site. If this Policy is changed, we will update the “effective date” at the top of this page so that you are aware of any changes or clarifications as to what information we collect, how it is used and how it is managed. We ask you to check the effective date to see if this Policy has been revised since your last visit.

Types of Information We Collect

Information you provide manually: we collect the information you provide when you sign up to become a member, receive our newsletter, respond to our online surveys, contact us with questions, or otherwise interact with this Site. The information you manually provide may be personal information, such as your name and contact information or it may regard your preferences concerning communications when you opt in to become a member. 

Information from your browser or device: Wix collects technical data from your web browser when you access our site. This typically includes the IP address that connects your computer or mobile device to the internet, your operating system, your browser, and page interaction information such as date and time of your visit. The information we receive is dependent on your browser settings. We will not use this data. 

Information collected by cookies: a “cookie” is a small file downloaded and stored on your web browser when you visit a website. Specific cookies enable a website to identify a web browser’s requests with a single user, rather than treating each as separate and anonymous. YCCN’s website utilises cookies and collects information by cookies through Wix, but we will not be using or analysing them. You can learn more about cookies here.  

 

Why and How We Use Information Collected Through This Site

YCCN only collects and stores personal data that is adequate, relevant and limited to what is directly necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed, in line with GDPR.

We collect personal and non-personally identifiable Information for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and operate the information and services you request;

  2. For the distribution of the YCCN newsletter;

  3. To be able to contact you with general or personalised service-related notices in relation to your use of this site;

  4. To invite you to participate in surveys and provide feedback to us (in accordance with any privacy preferences you have expressed to us);

  5. To create aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred non-personal Information for internal purposes, which we may use to provide and improve our respective services;

How We Store Your Information

YCCN’s website is hosted on the Wix platform. Wix provides us with the online platform that allows us to provide and operate the information and services you request. Your data is stored through Wix’s data storage, databases and the general Wix applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall. Access to this personal data will be limited to YCCN personnel who need access and appropriate security will be in place to ensure that no personal data is shared with any YCCN personnel unnecessarily. When we delete data from our databases, we will do so in a way which ensures that this data is irrecoverable. 

In the event of a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data, YCCN shall promptly assess the risk to people’s rights and freedoms and if appropriate report this breach to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

 

How We Share Your Information

We may share information collected through this Site with third-party vendors who act for us or on our behalf. For example, we use the third-party vendor Wix to design and operate this Site. We may also use third-party vendors to undertake surveys and to help us with our marketing and communications efforts. These third-party vendors are required to keep your information confidential and to use it only to provide services on our behalf.

 

We may also disclose your information to comply with laws and to protect our rights and the rights of others. We will only do this when we believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law. We may, for example, use Google Analytics, a web analytics tool that helps us understand how visitors engage with our Site. YCCN is committed to empowering its members and supporters, and so your personal data protection rights very seriously. These are:

 

The right to access: You have the right to request copies of your personal data that YCCN holds.

 

The right to rectification: You have the right to request that YCCN correct any of your personal information that you believe to be inaccurate. You also have the right to request that YCCN complete any of your personal information that you believe to be incomplete.

 

The right to erasure: You have the right to request that YCCN erase your personal data. 

 

The right to restrict processing: You have the right to request that YCCN restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

 

The right to object to processing: You have the right to object to YCCN’s processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

 

The right to data portability: You have the right to request that YCCN transfer the data that we have collected to another organisation, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
